What is The Wise Women Project?

The Wise Women is an archival project that aims to gather and share the stories of women and gender-nonconforming senior citizens. We want to preserve their wisdom and have their voices survive the test of time. With this endeavor, we want to record and share the stories of Wise Woman so that current and future generations can learn from their stories of resilience. This project aims to be a loudspeaker for voices that have never shared their stories.

Why focus on the stories of Women?

Women have been a historically marginalized group. Even though we’ve seen unprecedented strides toward achieving gender equality, there is much work left to be done. We see this project as our small contribution to the cause. We chose the word Women as the focus of our work, and we understand it as representative of all individuals that identify with it. We hope to create a space that features stories that represent a diversity of lived experiences under this identity. Our platform is meant to reflect how diverse and rich the experience of being a Woman is.
